About

“Theatre as a Building” is a project initiated by NGO Lithuanian Information Center to present the most valuable and most interesting Lithuanian theatre building from the perspective of their architecture. The goal is to uncover the way in which imaginative reality (the reality of the performance) and urban reality (the reality of the city) happens in each of the chosen building examples.

The project “Theatre as a Building” analyses 9 theatre buildings from the cities of Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Panevėžys. Chosen virtual multimedia tour format with the help of curated texts, historical archives and technical sketches, contemporary photographs, special infographics, timelines and videos done by the procet creative team helps to dive into the different spaces and times. On the project website visitors can find 9 theatre building tours as well as 3 research texts written by theatre and architecture researchers.
